HAAS Training Log

Blog 4/16

I have begun the CNC Mill training, and completed the first couple modules. Working on more today.

Update from end of class

4/24

Finished the online portion, starting the hands-on test, beginning with breaking down the tooling in the machine and thoroughly cleaning it. So far have learned about filling the coolant, and how to break down and clean the tools/spindles.

Continuing with the hands-on test. Got the order pages today, and completely broke down and cleaned the 8ish tools in my machine and cart. They needed some work, but also it’s most time consuming that every tool I need I have to go hunting for and it is rarely where it’s supposed to be.

Also learned to replace the inserts in the insert tools, which is good to know.

Got the tools reassembled for the test file, next week will be getting raw stock and working on the setup. Still need to clean the vise and table and reinstall the vise, but then should be ready to start.

4/30

Have the raw stock loaded, the vise squared, and all my tools loaded in the correct positions. Next up is setting my tool and work offsets.
