Received instructions for my first mill project to go towards my skill hours; setting up a Pierson Mini Pallet System and milling the pallet to make a grid system for more dynamic workholding.

I unfortunately was unable to make much progress since Nate, who gave the assignment, was out sick, and Stephen was unfamiliar with the parts and locations for the system and its tooling. I worked for a couple hours on getting the mill prepped, including removing and maintaining the previous vise, tracking down the parts of the system I could identify based on the image Nate had sent and getting them cleaned and prepped, removing the tooling present in the machine and on its cart and getting it disassembled and cleaned, and cleaning the interior of the mill itself.

With Nate’s assistance I was able to make more progress, including finding the remaining parts needed for the pallet system base.

I got the base installed as well as got all the tooling needed tracked down, prepped, and installed in the machine. Unfortunately Nate did not have the file or job sheet ready to actually make the project, so I was unable to make any further progress on this project.
